Stage 14

Well, we still have the same leader as we did on the eve of the first rest day a week ago. But, the time gaps have narrowed somewhat and no one really expects Thomas Voeckler to lead after tomorrow night.

But, what a marvelous leader he has been. Even Lance has acknowledged that he deserved to keep his jersey on the Plateau de Beille.

Now, the Tour rests, and on Tuesday will head to the Vercours, a beautiful land above Grenoble in the Alps -- and the place where Lance Armstrong should confirm himself as the six-time Tour winner.

It is a long time since I can remember such devastation in just two days of racing in the Pyrenees. Lance did it with an amazing team who races to their limits and then falls away to come home at their leisure.

It sounds easy, but it is not. If it was, others would have done it many times before.
