Stage 15
Everything, it seems is going to plan for Lance Armstrong. All of the time spent looking at the route, and riding the strategic stages throughout the off season and in May, has paid off time and time again.
When Ullrich attacked this day, Armstrong did not panic, but chased back in a controlled fashion. It was not, as it appeared a dangerous moment, as Lance knew what was around every corner and how hard the day could be if Ullrich tried to stay clear.
A final word on Thomas Voeckler who now rides towards
Paris
in the white jersey of best Rookie. He deserves to win this and, even though the time gaps might indicate otherwise, he went down fighting all the way.
Now, it's the Alpe d'Huez time trial and Ivan Basso will be the next to feel the wrath of Armstrong. He will probably get caught by him and then the rest of the week will be spent building more time as he heads to a record sixth victory.
If I was not riding among the race's leaders, I would be very worried about doing a poor performance and getting eliminated. I am sure some will when the 33 percent of the winner's time rule is applied.
Alpe d'Huez will again play a major part in Tour history.
