Stage 20
The Americans on the Champs Élysées laid witness to the greatest moment in both American cycling and the Tour de France today. Lance Armstrong won the Tour for a record sixth time straight, and he did it with ease.
Whether he will come back again, remains to be seen, but this remarkable man has done what no other could.
I thought I had commentated on most things cycling throughout my TV career, but I'm glad I was around for this.
It was not the greatest Tour and, in fairness, Lance is probably not the greatest rider, but he is the only six-time Tour winner and he has showed us all how to live life and take from it what you want most.
OLN has done a great job. I can say that, as I am not a staff person! They worked hard to make sure that we did not miss a trick.
Thank you all for your comments. Until the next time ...
