 Stage 4: Team Time Trial
So far, this Tour de France couldn’t have gone any better for the USPS team. Defending Lance Armstrong’s title as Tour de France champion today for the 2nd time in history, an American team has won the Team Time Trial.
Last year, it had never been done before, and Lance Armstrong needed the time gained to win the Tour. Time will tell whether or not the time gaps generated by a picture perfect effort by USPS will be just enough, more than enough, or not quite enough as we get into mountains of the Tour.
USPS took 1 min 19 seconds of real time out of Jan Ullrich, but that was reduced to an only a 40-second deficit because T-Mobile finished in 4th.
Lance Armstrong is back in yellow, and after a rainy day, hopefully we have some sunshine ahead.
